Elizabeth Powell Bond was the first Dean of Swarthmore College. Author Louisa May Alcott discusses the March sisters (characters from her novel "Little Women"), who have been "admitted" to Bond's college. She announces the upcoming sequel to Little Women (also known as "Good Wives") and describes the pressure she faced from her publishers and readers. Enclosed with the letter is a silk-winder, "a gift from 'Amy' of 'Little Women'- her own handiwork."
