Maria M. Morgan letter to Abby Hopper Gibbons

Skaneateles, June 5th 63

My dear friend

Mrs. Gibbons,

We shipped
by [railroad] yesterday a barrel containing dried
small fruit, which is very nice, also
a small quantity of Sage, catnip &c,
and a bushel of Apples, which
were so fresh that, by wrapping
them carefully in paper, hose,
they will reach you safely. Also,
a small tub of nice butter, I
hope it can go to you immediately
But, Mr Haydock writes me that
much delay is caused, often from
waiting for a Vessel. I wish we were
able to send it to you by Express.
I have obtained a Barrel of Pickled
Cucumbers, which will be ready
to ship the first of next week.
Your letter has stirred up our
people to make another affect

in behalf of your suffering family,
and I hope you will hear often
from us. There is work plenty
for all displaced in these days,
and its our duty to work.
