Inquires about obtaining some Contrabands to do farm work ("Contraband" was a term used for slaves who escaped to Union lines during the Civil War). He originally bought the farm for the purpose of patient rehabilitation, but he now plans to use it for the benefit of African Americans and seeks the assistance of John Hopper and Abby Hopper Gibbons.
