My dear Madam

I have just
seen your kind note of yesterday
I duly appreciate your kind
sympathies in my [irreparable?]
lass. I derive more consolation
from the recollection of her
pure and unspotted life
and influence in educating
her children and the social
influence she exerted on all who
came in contact with her than
from any contemplation of
my own duty and character.
She was all that a wife and
mother could be, and universally
beloved by all.

time since asking a donation
for the soldier's Home not
knowing you plan of [?]
I wrote you [each?] Prison Home
asking your address that I

returning from you. I address

presume you did not get

I am not able now, being
[confined] to my room, otherwise it
would offend [?] pleasantly
see you immediately for I
always took much satisfaction
in your conversation, and a statement
of your [Charitable] Institutions

your order for $100 for the
