My dear friend

Mrs Sarah H. Emerson
Yours of the 27th was received with
much pleasure this day. On my
way to City Point I called at the
Medical Directors and was agreeably
surprised to find a letter from
you. Your presence has been greatly
missed at The Point shall I say
by whom & perhaps you can guess.
A friend of yours at this hospital
last week had a severe attack
of sick head-ache and I heard him
express in his own mind how curative
he thought a cup of such tea
as he used to drink at your table
at City Point would prove, Little [George],
has not been seen since the morning
of your departure, did you take him

with you? Poor Nelson informs me
that he has been robbed by [Jim?];
of a pair of pants, [pair] of shirts and
a certain bottle presented him Mrs
E. He says they refuse to pay him
unless you furnish him with a statement
of his time of service with
you. Nelson informs me that Dr. Miller [?]
Loosier - has been sent North. By
the way do you think I should object
going to Beverly not in the least and
if you and your mother design
going there tell her she can press
her request upon Dr. Wagner I
think if he desired the [Surgeon General]
my transfer, it would easily
be accomplished. We have nothing
by way of news otherwise than we anticipate
another invasion of the Capital,
Please give my respects to your mother
I trust you have fully recovered ere
this, I am still your friend as ever
