Dear daughter Sally
Thy letter of today was
welcome and Bonnie
dear child should hear from
me today but for the haste
I am in to get this off in time
I sent the pieces by mail
to day of her blue flannel
and plaid dress, and hope
you will receive them -
We had a pleasant [evening]
Sunday - Mrs Taylor and
[Lilian L?] Mr Leggett - we
missed our daughters
who would like them much
they have almost decided
to take apartments over
Mr [Vaux?] and I think
$700 probably as reasonable
as anything they’ll find
[left side]
There is nothing new - even
the small facts that so
concern Julia as to write
about them, would not interest
thee - such as putting
tacks in the carpet at the
head of the stairs, and the
delivery of the second packages
she left
I sent for aunt
Rachel to pass Monday here
she returned for [?]
that it is [underlined] [trunk?] [/underlined] day, and
she could not leave - What
a dear thing it is that she
has that shining excuse
for not opening her bonnet
box
Yesterday cool and
pleasant I went to see
the infants - out of an
[right side]
hundred only one sick -
The [?] gave me
a cordial reception, and
I was interested in the way
they get along - no manager
darkens their doors -
Dr Asgell is up every
morning at 5 oclock, and
the little ones get a glass
of milk, and one sent
over the river, or down
on the elevated for a trip
on the Staten Island Boat
She believes in prevention, and
if they were sick, it is her
pound of [?], rather than
dosing them - She is a rare
woman, and only a woman
with genuine sympathies would
put her shoulder to the wheel
as she does -
Pardon the [underlined] Institution [/underlined] touch.
as there is a dearth of other items of interest
Give my love to all
Tell James his advertisement
makes a show - I
have written to Julia, it is time
for hers -
Now thy father has
recovered from his forboding
about your journeys
east, he his himself again
one day he went with Mr
Leggett out to the MacMullers
and was very happy
admired Alice, who was
so hearty in her reception
of them both -
[top margin]
We both take
our stout
daily, and
have neither
want or care
The house
is quiet and
neat and I
enjoy just
what I am
having -
With love
to Lucy &
kisses to our
children and
then Aunty Sally
thy mother
