Women's Prison Reform Committee letter to Police Commissioners extract
Description
Extract of a letter sent to Police Commissioners concerning the employment of police matrons across New York City, written on Women's Prison Reform Committee stationary. Based on inspections of police stations employing matrons in 1894, the Women's Prison Reform Committee recommends the transfer of current matrons to locations with higher rates of women prisoners and more need for their services.
