Mary Townsend Fussell was Graceanna Lewis' niece. Lewis requests that Mary come to the Decoration Day ceremony to commemorate those who were lost in the Civil War. She plans to go to the grave of Emma Jane Fussell, Mary Fussell's sister who died while nursing the sick and wounded during the Civil War.
