Lawrence Obanyon Posey was an African-American student of Martha Schofield's who graduated from Howard University in 1882 as valedictorian of his class and became a lawyer. Tells Schofield about his studies. Says he is leaving university in Columbia because teaching pace is too slow and he is invested in getting into Howard University. Thanks Schofield for her friendship and support. Worries about how Elizabeth Dorsey, a major funder of the Schofield School, will react to his leaving university.
