Martha Schofield met Sadie Brouwer Bartram in 1859 while teaching at a school in Harrison, New York, and the two remained close friends. She expresses concern for Bartram in regards to father's abusiveness. She describes her activities over the past week, including caring for the corpse of an unidentified woman. She speaks at length about her admiration for Anna E. Dickinson and the good work she is doing for the country.
