Elbridge T. Gerry was a lawyer and reformer who was the grandson of U.S. Vice President Elbridge Gerry. J. Philip Berg was the opposing counsel in one of Gerry's cases. He announces his opposition to the "Act for the Protection of Health and the Prevention of Vice in New York City." Cites his belief that the act "would...give respectability to vice" as reason for his opposition.
