Lucretia Mott encloses an account of the death of her great-grandson Penrose Hallowell. She discusses her activities in Boston, which included attending the Free Religious Association meeting, where Octavius Frothingham delivered an excellent address. Other speakers included Dr. Cyrus A. Bartol and Celia M. Burleigh. She also mentions attending a funeral where Frothingham "preached the best funeral sermon," and Garrison spoke "long and well - rather too much spiritualism."
