Lucretia Mott letter to Martha Coffin Wright
Lucretia Mott recounts her activities while in New York, and she disagrees with some of the "Herald's" account of her preaching. She also discusses attending a Boston Radical Club meeting where a discourse was given by Nathaniel Shaler on the Darwin's theory of biological evolution. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Edna Dow Cheney were at the meeting. She also discusses the Free Religion Association meeting in Boston where she was a speaker. She bought several copies of the book "Chapters from the Bible of the Ages" by Giles Stebbins from the author to distribute to friends and family. She mentions her disappointment that William Lloyd Garrison did not come to the meeting, calling him "thoroughly liberal."
