Twelve costumed students dance in a long line, hand-in-hand, each holding a wooden bucket. They are dressed in ankle-length dresses, light colored and some printed with floral patterns, with puffed sleeves, broad collars, and aprons. Most wear bonnets, two are bare-headed. Back of the photograph is inscribed "Big May Day 1900. Plays and Dances "Dance of the Milk Maids." May Day celebrates spring and honors parting seniors featuring parades, theater, and maypole dancing.
