Dearest Mary, Your telegram came when I was in my bath this morning and I sacrificed my breakfast to copying the letter to Miss A. with all the cordiality omitted and a change which Mamie and I contend is absolutely tautological - Gǣwe are willing to assumeGǥ and Gǣwe will do all in our power to have assumedGǥ as your telegram read, meaning exactly the same - at least so think we. I used GǣIGǥ in answer to a letter from her just received which in the haste was not forwarded. Of course she had meantime had later orders from Julia. At noon Mamie and I thought perhaps you were hesitating about letting her sail if it meant returning on the Bothnia whence our telegram as to our votes - at all events a recent letter from Miss A seemed to imply this. If your coming this time will not interfere with your coming soon again I shall be charmed to see you on Tuesday but you must if you can try to stay till Sunday or Monday as I may be inundated with girls up to Thursday as we close on Friday (I expected to go to Baltimore on Monday), and sometimes this causes lots of arrangements; but we will not anticipate this; and in short I shall be glad to see you even for a day so you see I give you all possible tether. Mamie will be very glad too she tells me to say. Tuesday is my evening you know and you can choose between Mamie and my menagerie. If you can say over my busy days come now even if you canGt come soon again. This letter dear Mary has in such utter hopeless confusion that you must pardon it as there is the mail man Yours Minnie C Th
