Letter from M. Carey Thomas to Mary Elizabeth Garrett, December 15, 1893

Miss Buckingham says a number of the teachers wish to see us and suggests 7 -+ P.M. Thursday which of course is impossible - did I not tell you so? So unless we hear to the contrary I shall write and appoint 3 -+ P.M. at the schoolhouse. Send Miss J.L. Brownell a card to the Xmas party. She canGÇÖt come but would like it I think. We shall write Miss Buckingham to ask the teachers to say nothing. It was outrageous when [illegible] teachers a stray report does not matter but an [illegible] statement certainly ought not to be made - She is really too outrageous in her behavior and I should like to request her resignation as a Manager if she persists in being so unconstitutional. We had better see her first on Thursday morning at 12 at the schoolhouse. This Miss Potts matter must be settled first before we see the others. You see I did call on Julia and I tried to go just before luncheon when I thought would be in I could not resist after hearing she was out asking for you but I hope the maid understood the call was on her. Do you remember under what circumstances I last heard [illegible] I wonder We leave by an aft train tomorrow 4 I think.
