I am filled with despair and contrition by the receipt of a letter from Miss McDowell, mentioning 2 things you asked for the day before and did not find - the rest of the photographs, which are still at OfGÇÖs (Geo F. Of. 8th St out of Broadway) awaiting riders, so that you can either send to him for them, saying you do so at my request, or stop there and look over them the first time you are in N.Y. Second - Miss AndrewsGÇÖ desk. I remember in those last days (I think it was during my last visit to Bryn Mawr, telling you about it and asking you whether you would send the money for it for me to Miss Andrews and your saying you would, but alas, I forgot to give it to you. She said -ú5, but in view of her long [illegible] of interest if nothing more, it ought to be more, so will you please at once if you do not mind [illegible] whatever you think right for it, saying that we found a purchaser for it, and let me know the amount when I will instantly send it to you in a cheque. I am so sorry about it and it does seem so dreadfully careless. I have no address, so that I cannot send it direct. It is the great comfort now, as it was all last winter, of the housekeeperGÇÖs heart at Montebello, as Miss McDowell had it mended and sent it out there at my request, so you see I really have found use for it.
