American woman and her political peers

Copy print of a pastel drawing by Henrietta Briggs-Wall. Miss Frances E. Willard is depicted in the center of the image, surrounded by likenesses of an idiot, a convict, a Native American Indian, and an insane man. Briggs-Wall, of Kansas, planned this picture, found subjects for the photographs, and exhibited it at the World's Fair, in Chicago, 1893. Small reproductions were sold, circulated from coast to coast, making many converts.
