Title

Basketball team, 1897

Description

A basketball team of eleven students in uniform poses with a ball in front of an ivy-covered stone building. Their uniforms are corduroy skirts with dark button-up shirts with a breastpocket and slightly puffed long sleeves, and they all have their hair tied back. Each has the number 97 on her shirt front. The front of the image is marked "The Gilbert Studios, C. M. Gilbert. 926 CHESTNUT ST., PHILAD'A." Back of the photograph is inscribed "Basketball Team 1897."
