She also discusses the possible resignation of Dr. Rhoads as President of Bryn Mawr, and assures Thomas that the College would be smart to accept her terms regarding her future position at Bryn Mawr. She encourages Thomas to not tie herself to the College if they do not appoint her President and add her to the Board of Trustees after Dr. Rhoads steps down. She apologizes for taking so long to finish writing this letter, explaining that she has been feeling blue. She starts to explain why, but at least two pages of the letter are missing, as Thomas destroyed them at the request of Garrett.
