Cornelia Hancock and Isabel Churchman Child letters to Emily Howland

Incomplete letter from Cornelia Hancock, a Quaker reformer and educator who founded a school for African Americans in South Carolina, forwarded to Howland by Hancock's niece Isabel Churchman Child. Hancock's letter discusses her recent activities, including starting a "social center" for African Americans, as well as her financial situation. Child's letter gives news of Hancock, who had just left for South Carolina.
