Sarah Hopper Emerson letter to Abby Hopper Gibbons
Description
Discusses the illness of Martha Sever (sp?) and passes on other news from the military hospital where Emerson worked as a nurse. Asks Gibbons to have a newpaper article written. Gives a list of items received from the Sanitary Commission. Expresses outrage that a "Rebel woman" has been put in charge of the Sanitary Commission's hospital supplies for wounded Confederate prisoners in Winchester, Virginia; says that "if it were not that the Sanitary and Christian Commissions were rivals and that the former does so much good, I would write a letter to the paper myself about it"; blames the leadership of Mr. Knapp.
