Description
Hannah B. Chickering was a Massachusetts prison reformer who founded the Temporary Asylum for discharged female prisoners (later called the Dedham Temporary Home for Women and Children). Reports that their hearing with the Legislative Committee for the establishment of a Home was successful. A bill will be presented to fund the institution by both state aid and private donations. Wishes to consult Gibbons on aspects going forward.
