General Shields and Dr. Gilbert are visiting the hospital. Dr. Gilbert will mail her letters in Washington. Mentions that four prisoners returned to them and spoke of the horrors they endured. Speaks about the poor conditions at the hospital and says she sees many slaves and longs "to run them off." Warns that many of the letters sent to her have already been opened and read before she receives them.
