Rebecca Lewis Fussell was Graceanna Lewis' sister. Lewis discusses the details of selling Sunnyside, the family farm. She does not think she will get the position at Vassar College that she applied to; she believes that they would prefer to hire a man, even though she has gotten references from several scientists. She mentions that her cousin Susan Fussell is working with children in poorhouses and alludes to the financial difficulties she and Fussell have experienced.
