Martha Schofield met Sadie Brouwer Bartram in 1859 while teaching at a school in Harrison, New York, and the two remained close friends. Brouwer wishes Schofield luck in her work in the South but will miss her very much. She reminisces about when she and Schofield first met and talks about the close relationship they have had through the years.
