Description

Lockwood details her role in settling the shirt waist factory strike in Philadelphia. After the New York shirt waist factory strike, Lockwood wrote President William Howard Taft requesting that assistance be provided to the strikers by the foundation created by Theodore Roosevelt to aid settlement of industrial strikes. With the assistance of the foundation, Alfred Love, Lockwood's long-time friend and president of the Universal Peace Union, was able to secure a meeting with the heads of the opposing parties and help them reach a settlement.
