Description

Land grant from Roger de Betton son of Richard de Betton. Gothic bastard hand. Brown ink. "Salop" in modern hand in black ink appears in the top margin of the recto. The bottom of the document is folded up and sealed by a fine, red wax pendent seal. The central image is a lion rampant within a shield within a circle surrounded by text. The back of the seal is globular with a concave circular center. The folded up part of the document contains "Seal a lion rampant" written in modern hand in black ink. The verso contains writing: "...Ed. 3."; Roger De Betton son of Rich Betton Rich only (inserted above) Tor(?) Tho Gr?burg of Tharge Betton..."; "Allemeri(?) 1369."
