Discusses recent holiday events and news concerning family and friends. Mentions letters from a cousin where he "dwells absurdly on the evils of the present costume of women." Mentions that "The Una" has ceased publication; she encourages people to petition but says "with all we have to do for the slave, and my other numerous cares, I can feel a very cispher [sp] in this movement. We are not petitioning, we are holding no Meetings, we are doing nothing, save that two medical schools for women are in operation." "The Una" was among the first feminist periodicals operated entirely by women. Discusses sewing, quilting, and current fashions. Briefly discusses a petition and says "how hard it is for the oppressor to do justice for the oppressed!" Mentions her interest in Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Comments on Frances D. Gage, saying "she is blessed for the good she has done with her pen."
