Webb was called home due to the illness of his cousin and has to cancel several engagements. She also discusses recent activities of several family members. Written on the backsides of four letters from George Lord to Lucretia Mott (A00182589, A00182590, A00182591, and A00182592).

Richard D. Webb was an Irish Quaker active in the antislavery movement. Webb invites Hallowell to stay with him in Dublin on her way back to America from London, and he lists the sights to see in Ireland. He references his "American accident" which he indicates is keeping him from going to London for Yearly Meeting and visiting with her.

Possibly a fragment. Written from Roadside. Lucretia Mott writes about recent visits with friends, including attending a dinner at Elizabeth Fisher's with Richard D. Webb and Mary Estlin. She says she misses her late husband James every day. Mentions that Martha and George Lord's "tin" anniversary is coming up.

Addressed to Richard D. Webb, who was an Irish Quaker, publisher, and abolitionist. Discusses Quaker theology and the Hicksite-Orthodox schism. Describes in detail the recent abolitionist work of his wife, Lucretia Mott, in "endeavoring to stir up the people to works of righteousness" in Dover, Harrisburg, and Trenton. Discusses the reception of abolitionist sentiment in Delaware and other states. Says "Although we have many discouragements and much uphill work, yet when I look back to the time when W. L. Garrison came to this city on his way to Boston after being in prison in Baltimore and recollect how few then manifested much interest in the subject, and and how many thousands are now laboring in the cause, my heart rejoices I am cheered in the hope that of the end of slavery draweth nigh." Talks about the dissension within the Quaker community concerning abolitionist activism, including the opinions of an influential New York Quaker named George White. Describes the family members of his household and Anna Mott Hopper's work in the abolitionist movement. Briefly discusses William Lloyd Garrison.

Written on Walter Brown and Co. stationery. George Lord writes that the "party" will be most welcome at Orange, likely referring to Lucretia Mott and other family members. He says that he had "R. D. Webb, Wendell, Lucy and cousin to tea" last evening "with Mother's family" and adds that they all like Richard Webb very much. Lucretia Mott wrote part of her letter dated July 1, 1868, to Martha Coffin Wright (A00182159) on the back of this letter.
