Building dated 1700. 3 copies. Front: "Friends' Meeting House, at Airton." "This plate formed the frontspiece of the 'Life of William and Alice Ellis' published by James Backhouse in 1849. The Meeting House was built by William Ellis and given by him to Friends. The initials 'W.A.E.' and the date '1700' are over the door (See p. 32 of that book). W.E. died 4th of 4th month 1709. See Smith's catalogue Vol. 1 p 562." "Ellis, Wm. and Alice, Life with a Frontspiece of Friends' Meeting House, at Airton, 8vo. cloth, 3s.6d." Back: "Friends Institute. Picture Gallery. 13, Bishopgate, Without, E.C." This meeting house was also affiliated with Brighouse Monthly Meeting. Meetings were held in Airton as early as 1660. Building dated 1672. Front: "Almeley Meeting House - Herefordshire. From 'The Friend' (London), Sept. 13, 1937." "Almeley Meeting House, Herefordshire, a competition photo by John Southall Whiting, of Leeds, whose direct ancestor, Roger Prichard, built the Meeting House about 1672. Meetings for worship have been held at Almeley throughout its history. The district, like others where Quakerism had taken root, was once a stronghold of the Lollards." This meeting house was also affiliated with Hereford & Radnor Monthly Meeting and Hereford & Mid Wales Monthly Meeting. The meeting house was built by Roger Pritchard in 1672 for the Society of Friends. Two cottages were converted to make the meeting house. The meeting house was built in 1672, and there have not beeen many alterations. It is still an active meeting.
