Discusses the activism of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who spoke at the recent Woman's Rights Convention, and her resolutions on divorce.

Lydia Maria Child tells Lucretia Mott of her disdain for "Female Conventions and Societies." She also asks Mott to send a letter appealing to British women not to buy cotton produced in the United States, as she feels that the loss of their business would have a larger impact on slavery than an American boycott would.

Describes in detail the recent abolitionist work of his wife, Lucretia Mott, in "endeavoring to stir up the people to works of righteousness" in Dover, Harrisburg, and Trenton. Discusses the reception of abolitionist sentiment in Delaware and other states. Says "Although we have many discouragements and much uphill work, yet when I look back to the time when W. L. Garrison came to this city on his way to Boston after being in prison in Baltimore and recollect how few then manifested much interest in the subject, and and how many thousands are now laboring in the cause, my heart rejoices I am cheered in the hope that of the end of slavery draweth nigh." Talks about the dissension within the Quaker community concerning abolitionist activism, including the opinions of an influential New York Quaker named George White. Describes the family members of his household and Anna Mott Hopper's work in the abolitionist movement. Briefly discusses William Lloyd Garrison.

Written from Roadside. Lucretia Mott expresses sadness now that all of the children who visited her over the summer have left. She writes of her servants, briefly mentions her recent reading, and references tensions among abolitionists.

Esther Ann Jacobs was Graceanna Lewis' cousin. She encloses an article (no longer attached) written by Joseph B. Lewis about a mob that attacked several abolitionists, including Frederick Douglass, in 1843 in Pendleton, Indiana. Jacobs also shares some of her own recollections about the event. She thanks Lewis for sending her the beautiful leaves.

Scattered Seeds was a magazine for Quaker children. This volume begins at page 218. The cover features a photograph of Martha Schofield as a child, and a brief biographical sketch of her on the second page describes her family's participation in the Underground Railroad and her work teaching African Americans. The rest of the volume contains short stories, poems, and letters to the editor.

Letter by abolitionist and reformer Sallie Holley, apparently meant for publication in the National Anti-Slavery Standard. Consists of dated entries in roughly reverse chronological order. Describes Holley's work as an agent for the National Anti-Slavery Standard. Details her travels around New York State as she gave lectures and signed up subscribers for the Standard. Discusses public opinion of current events in the towns where she stopped. Also discusses Holley's interactions with a number of abolitionists, including Gerrit Smith, Ann Carroll Fitzhugh, Elizabeth Potts Fitzhugh Birney, Elizabeth Smith Miller, Emily Howland, and Slocum Howland.
