Description:
Land grant. Gothic bastard hand. Brown ink. Text on the recto begins with a 2-line capital. Bottom of the document is folded up, and "Salop" is written in modern hand on the folded portion. A black wax pendent seal with a central image surrounded by text is attached. Reverse of the seal is globular with a circle impressed in the center. The verso contains writing: "235", 1330 (crossed out) 1329, and some undecipherable writing summarizing the grant.

Description:
Legal document. Property indenture among Thomas Whitmore, Esquire, of Apley Park in the County of Salop, Sir Thomas John Tyrwhitt Jones of Stanley, and Onesiphorus Tyndall...of Middlesex County. On the recto, This Indenture, printed in large black ink letters, begins the document. Within the capital "T" is a seal in black ink which is topped by a crown and contains a coat of arms that is surrounded by the words "Honi soit qui mal y pense." At the bottom of the "T" in small printed letters are the words "Silvester, Engraver to His Majesty, 27, Strand, London." Manuscript in brown ink. The document is bounded on all sides by double or triple red lines. In the left margin is a blue tax stamp with a tin tab for one pound and six shillings. Below the stamp is a map of the land, to which the document pertains, in turquoise ink. Names of the parties involved are written neatly around the map. A compass stands to the left of the map. Bottom of the document is folded up, and has green ribbon topped with red wax in three places. Left and right edges of the fold are sealed by thin strands of parchment. Verso contains a summary of the document and a white square stamp (the obverse part of the tax stamp) with a crown, 22,, 1, "G, and R." Also on the verso is a witness statement noting that the money mentioned in the document was paid; it is signed "Witness." Metal point ruling. Prickings on the left and right edges. Indenture is accompanied by a 2 page paper manuscript from January 19, 1826, written by M. Mickers (or Mickeus?) and addressed to Sir Thomas John Tyrwhitt Jones Bart of Stanley Hall regarding an estimate of the land.

Legal document. Indenture for a messuage made between Richard Capel and Charles Cunningham in the County of Essex. Document consists of two pieces of parchment, the top piece being a continuation of the bottom piece. On the recto of the beginning of the document is "This Indenture, printed in large black ink letters. Within the capital T" is a seal in black ink which is topped by a crown and contains a coat of arms that is surrounded by the words "Honi soit qui mal y pense." Manuscript is cursive in black ink. Text is bounded on the top, left, and right sides by double or triple red ink lines. Tax stamps for 1 shilling and six pence are attached to each document. The bottom of the documents are folded up together and sealed by means of faded red string. Attached to the strand of string in the middle of the fold is a red wax seal with the side portrait of a bearded man facing left. The signature of Richard Capel is on either side of the seal. Prickings on the left and right edges. Top portion of the bottom piece of parchment has a wavy-cut edge. The verso of the beginning sheet of parchment contains a summary of the document as well as the signatures of witnesses (Elizabeth Lasinby and Mathias Deye).

Description:
Legal document issued by Louis XIV. Cursive. Brown ink. The letters in the first line of the document are twice as large as those in the rest of the document. Above the first line is a segment of unintelligible text. A line that zigzags horizontally marks the end of the text. Below it, Charleroi is rather clearly written, but the text directly to the right of it is not. Two undecipherable signatures are below this line. Verso of the document contains a circular, black ink stamped seal containing Louis XIV's coat of arms, which contains a triple fleur-de-lis (a stylized lily) with a crown on top. The coat of arms is surrounded by text. In the area between the text and the edge of the seal are crosses and at least one figure of a baby or cherub on the left. Another figure likely is on the right side. An undecipherable word stands to the left of the stamp, and "Chanceller..." stands to the right of it. The parchment is nearly transparent in some areas.

Legal document. Indenture for mortgage between John Francis Kempt of Middlesex County and Joseph Gibson of Gosport. Document consists of two pieces of parchment, the top piece being a continuation of the bottom piece. The document begins with "This Indenture, printed in large black ink letters. Below the capital T" is printed:" L.S. Burman, Law Stationer, 7 Warwick Court, Holborn. Deeds & Writings Engrossed & Copied." Manuscript components are cursive in dark brown or black ink. Throughout the document, words such as "between" and "and whereas" are bold. The text is bounded on the left, right, and top sides by triple red lines in red ink. Left margin of the document contains a one pound tax stamp. Recto of the second page of the document has printed in large letters "... This Indenture Further Witnesseth That, and the layout of this page is much the same as the first. The left margin contains a second one pound tax stamp. The bottoms the documents are folded up together and sealed with two strands of green ribbon beneath red wax seals. The seals seem to contain the image of a man's head facing right. Signatures of John Francis Kempt and Joseph Gibson appear near the seals.Verso of the beginning page contains signatures of witnesses as well as a summary of the document. Metal point ruling. Prickings on the left and right edges. Top edge of the beginning page of the document has a wavy-cut edge.
