Smithtown July 25th 66 Dear Mrs. Gibbons, I write you for a small amount of information feeling perhaps I am asking too much with all the demands you have on your time. Could you give me the address of the servants Home in N.M. Several I know among the poor in whom I am interested, women [with?] situations in the city I have seen such an [left side] Institution advertised where application could be made by those wishing homes in the city, where they could remain until a home was found. One thing more do you know of any young girl wishing a home until womanhood I am on the lookout for one I can offer the advantages of a good home to one that would not be troubled with relations or taken from me. [right side] I could not see the fruits of my labor. What I have done for the colored people with s has all brought its reward Just now we have three in our house good and respectable, one married a man who has lived with us five years and two little boys who promise to become good men. I have proposed to our [?] and several others to apply to the [association] [association] in Hudson St for domestics. I could help you much. I often feel in all your labors of love, if my home was in the city, but providence has marked out another sphere as best for the present. I will feel it a great favor, if you could give me the information at an early day, soon as you can, for which I will be very much obliged. Yours with respect S.E. Vail. Smithtown Long Island
