Dearest Minnie, We were sorry to find in coming in a little while ago that we had missed you - We have been spending a large part of the morning in engaging our passage on the GÇ£RepublicGÇ¥, Sept 9th, that being the latest date, alas, on which we can get back in time to be of any use to Miss Andrews before the opening of the school. For the present we are not quite so much to be commiserated as we all thought, for by the advice of a physician here we are going to the Highlands instead of to Switzerland and intend weather permitting to take in two or three of the northern cathedrals en route. Tomorrow night we stop at Peterborough unless we hear to the contrary from you before 9:45 tomorrow morning. We will come to see Miss Lucas at 12:30. If you hear she is not coming, you could telegraph us perhaps in time, as it will be rather hard for us to get there. If she should not come, and we hear to that effect, we will be there at 2 oGÇÖclock, and after our interview, if we are not too exhausted, I could probably go to the Holman Hunt, the red water colors or wherever you liked for an hour. We leave at about 5. I hoped to write to you from Oxford to tell you of my interest about GraceGÇÖs engagement and about Oxford etc., but could manage very little letter writing. Hastily I enclose Miss ChamberlinGÇÖs and Prof. GildersleeveGÇÖs notes and Fraulein SchroederGÇÖs (about whom by the way my remark was not serious)
